I'ts fine... but I would put the health pick ups in different places and the screen before boss should be redesigned imo. 

As a school project it's more than enough.

for a first game it's very cool!! you could just expand on the ideia a little bit more tho... more levels, more enemies, more plataforming options. 

overall i liked :)
